When I was a kid one of the things I loved most about books was the "about the author" page. Authors, it seemed, lived such incredible lives, including having a myriad of jobs. (I didn't realize at the time that was because they were trying to support themselves while writing. I thought all those jobs were fun!) So, when I took my 25th job, having had a great deal of trouble figuring out what I wanted to be when I grew up, I thought I was in good company among all those fun loving authors.
I've milked cows, birthed lambs, played with DNA, worked as a nurse practitioner, and studied theology. Having spent most of my life around dogs, cows, and sheep, has made me the go to animal person for my fantasy writing friends. Sheep and goats are my specialty.
Now, I'm director of a small library in upstate NY. Being a rural librarian means I get to do it all; programming, collection development, reader's advisory, tech support, administration, fundraising, PR, and, most important, shoveling snow, and plunging toilets. The best part is I get to spend time with the teen writers and film makers who like fantasy, magic, and swords as much as I do.
